I don't own a television

Let me clarify. I don't own a television like the next to last guy in this comic doesn't. This statement, however, is not very representative. Here are the TV shows I am currently, actively* watching, along with my progress through them, ordered by when I saw the most recently watched episode, approximately:

  • House (111/111)
  • Mad Men (9/32)
  • Monty Python's Flying Circus (6/45)
  • Weeds (34/63)
  • Dollhouse (2/14)
  • Dexter (14/37)
  • 30 Rock (6/58)
  • Heroes (60/61)
  • Arrested Development (48/53)
  • Firefly (1/14)

And here are the TV shows I would like to start watching in order from the first episode:

  • Recess (128)
  • Magic School Bus (52)
  • Malcolm in the Middle (151)

For those of you playing along at home, that means that I have 245 hours of television to watch, not counting commercials, before I am "caught up". This is 10.22 days of watching with no breaks. And in the time it will take me to catch up (more than 10 days, I assure you) even more episodes of the still active shows will air. (The math).

* For some definition of "actively"

I don't have a television either. I have an active connection to the internet with an HD monitor, hooked up to a nice graphics card with HDMI and the ability to play BDs on my computer, as well as 5.1 surround sound.

Well, that's a lie too, I have a television, it sits right next to my bed. But it's mostly so Ashley can watch Food Network whenever she wants to when she's over.

I don't really watch it. And currently, I only watch Psych and Monk (the current seasons), but I've been watching Dragon Ball Z and I want to get started again on LOST. Then I'll be good.

Ironic, I saw this right after I saw the Google Reader post about how much people watch TV. My next thought was "Hmm, Caleb never updates his blog anymore." Then again, I'm one to talk.

No matter how meticulously you organize your to-be-watched episodes, they will not line up and disappear as nicely as a Google Reader index.
