On the Failed Deployment of Cool Looking Online Shit

[ Tags | ]

We have this wonderful online system at OU's health center called RelayHealth. One of the most useful features of this system, in my mind, is that you can automatically request refills on your prescriptions without having to make an appointment or a phone call. The Rx is sent back to you in some sort of authenticated digital format, and you're given the option to send it to a pharmacy of your choice. Of course, I naturally sent it to the in-house pharmacy at the health center, since it was on the list.

Fast forward a week to yesterday. I went in to get my prescription from the pharmacy, and, to make a long story short, they have no way of actually receiving the prescriptions that are made on RelayHealth. WTF? What's the point of having this extremely nice online system for easily requesting refills on prescriptions? Why didn't Dr. Rice, or someone, at some point, go "Oh wait, this prescription that I'm granting him online is totally pointless because there's no way he can use it."? GAHHH.
